NewTV members have the opportunity to take classes, free with their membership, to learn the ins and outs of all things production. With classes taught by our highly skilled and knowledgable staff members, you know you're learning from the best.

After learning how to use our equipment, you can produce your own show in our 4K studio, borrow field equipment to produce a short film or documentary, or volunteer on other members' projects.​ We also offer classes in Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, switching/directing, and more!
MEMBER CLASSES
NewTV offers classes in all areas of media production for individuals of all skill levels. Our staff and other seasoned professionals teach industry leading production and post-production techniques, including camera operation, switching, light board / sound board operation, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and more! Most sessions are taught one-on-one and can be tailored to your interests and skillset.

Welcome to NewTV: Newton's heart of community creativity! NewTV’s orientation is designed for new members eager to explore and utilize the diverse resources available at Newton’s media center. This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of the facilities, equipment, and collaborative opportunities within our community media center.

STUDIO ELEMENTS

Duration: 2 Hours
Learn how to produce a program from NewTV’s state of the art control room and studio. This comprehensive class covers the basics of lighting, cameras, and control room equipment to produce your own show at NewTV or volunteer on a production. This class is a prerequisite for all studio classes.

FIELD PRODUCTION

This course will introduce the features and functionalities of NewTV’s latest camera acquisition, the Canon XF605 – a powerhouse in the realm of UHD 4K video recording. From mastering the camera's controls and settings to understanding the nuances of composition and storytelling, participants will gain the skills needed to produce high-quality videos in various field scenarios.

This advanced Studio and Control Room course is for individuals who have a basic understanding of our equipment and want to take their knowledge to the next level. Whether you are interested in directing, switching, lightboard, camera operation, or all of the above, we can tailor this course to your interests and skill level. Take the course more than once as your curiosity grows!

SOUND BOARD & AUDIO
DEEP-DIVE
Instructor: Steve Russo
Become a sound board whiz! This class looks at the sound board in our Control Room in greater detail. Learn to mix audio levels while recording in our studio so there is less to do in post-production. You will also learn to adjust audio during live broadcasts when there is no undo button and every second counts!

EDITING BASICS IN
ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
Instructor: Lena Chehaiber
If you have recorded your footage but have no idea what to do next, then this is the class for you. Learn to import your video files into Adobe Premiere Pro and utilize its features to make cuts, add graphics, splice audio, and more. At the end of the course, you will be able to transform raw footage into something polished and professional.
INTRODUCTION TO ANIMATION IN

Make your production extra special and ultra unique with the art of animation! This beginner-friendly course offers a hands-on introduction to motion design and visual effects using Adobe After Effects. You'll learn the fundamentals of animation, while exploring how to animate graphics, text, and illustrations.

YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Share your productions beyond NewTV and unlock the full potential of a global audience with YouTube. This course will guide you through the process of creating and managing a YouTube channel to build an online presence for your content, allowing you to engage with viewers and increase the reach and visibility of your productions. Creating a YouTube channel will allow NewTV to embed your content on our website to further grow your audience!
