As an organization, NewTV is always working to provide the best experiences and opportunities for our members to enhance member engagement. But did you know that there are also groups working to provide the best experiences and opportunities for community media centers? As a first-time attendee of a national Alliance for Community Media conference, I was very impressed with all that was offered. The three days were jam-packed with speakers, awards, workshops and round-table discussions all at the Westin hotel in the seaport district in Boston.

Digital Summit Philadelphia by the Numbers

Last week, Director of Marketing and Creative Services, Shelly Kamanitz, and I went to Digital Summit Philadelphia, a digital marketing conference that gave us the opportunity to learn from leaders in the industry from companies including Facebook, IBM, Microsoft, MGM Resorts International and Adidas about topics such as mobile video, SEO, user experience (UX), website design, content marketing, social media trends and more. It is hard to believe how much information was compacted into those two days, but that is how I know it was a valuable experience. Since you do not have endless hours to delve into these topics, I’ll summarize the event by highlighting some important numbers.

I was humbled to spend the day with 11,000 women of all ages, races and professional levels, (and roughly 25 men) at the 12th Annual Massachusetts Conference for Women.  The halls of the Boston Convention Center were lined with hundreds of exhibition booths where I got some well needed holiday shopping done, learned how to better manipulate Snapchat and found out I am at low risk for heart disease. There was an entire area manned with career coaches who devotedly engaged in free professional coaching advice.
