What's in it for Me? Top 5 Reasons to Volunteer

Last Thursday, NewTV hosted its fifth annual House of Haunts and it was a smashing success, largely due to our volunteer support. Over the span of three days, fifteen volunteer members and interns moved furniture, assembled props, carved pumpkins, acted in our scavenger hunt, greeted patrons and much more. I am constantly impressed by our members’ willingness to step forward when we need them and help out for a cause that they love.

ITVFest 2017

Last week I attended the ITVFest for the second year in a row. This event is one of the few festivals that celebrates indie episodic programming, and is set in an atmosphere that is both friendly and scenic. As an indie TV producer, it's encouraging to see more executives and creators who have heard great things about this festival fly across the country to learn from one another and foster new collaborative relationships with each other. Phillip Gilpin Jr. has headed this effort for several years now, and he and his team have created an event that is truly unique.

Don't Remove the Headphone Jack

When I search for a new cell phone, there are a few features that are very important to me. I care about build quality, the type of operating system, expandable storage, screen size, types of buttons, and most importantly, a head phone jack. This simple universal feature is still heavily in use in the non-cell phone world, and I don’t see it going away any time soon. However, phone manufacturers are starting to leave this “outdated” feature behind.
