In celebration of the new year and the new decade, here are some of the biggest changes and most exciting developments at NewTV in the past ten years.

Facility UpgradesCA screeningroom 2

Perhaps the most noticeable change at NewTV in the past ten years is how much our facilities have changed. We moved to our current location at 23 Needham Street in 2008, and in the past decade, we have added a screening room, our training center, and our soundstage. Our equipment has also been upgraded over time, allowing members to learn the latest cameras and streamline their production process with new technologies. With each of these changes, we’ve opened up more possibilities for ourselves and for our members. Learn more about our facilities here

New Events

We’ve introduced a new of new events over the past ten years, from countless art gallery receptions to our annual Ice Cream Social. We also celebrated our 20th & 25th anniversaries during the decade. The event that has grown the most since we started it is our annual Teamwork Trivia Challenge. This event, a trivia contest designed to help teams bond and collaborate, helps raise money for our scholarship and internship programs. Last year was our fourth annual Challenge, and we’re already getting ready this year for our fifth in May.

NewTV also launched podcasting as an option for members, starting in 2017. Edit Suite A was fitted with the equipment to become a podcasting suite, and podcasting classes were introduced shortly after. Podcasting has gone from a niche interest to a wide industry with podcasts available on every possible topic so we’re happy to continue to grow that aspect of our services. Some great podcasts are currently being produced at NewTV so be sure to check them out.

Original Programming

In the past ten years, we’ve seen some wonderful original programming at NewTV. The Folklorist, which focuses on lesser-known aspects of history, was the first of our programs to win an Emmy Award. Since then, it’s won nine in total. Other shows like American Ruins and Assasin Nation were also successes.
