2021: Looking Back and Moving Forward

Everyday, 10,000 people in the United States turn 65 years old. Record numbers are showing that we are living longer than ever before in human history. For instance, if you live to be 65, you are quite likely to live another 20 years to celebrate your 85th. This cohort is growing at a faster rate than any other group. At this rate, the senior population is going to increase from approximately 20% to more than 26%. Not only are people living much longer, but generally, they want to age in place: they want to stay in their homes or in their home communities rather than in a long-term care facility.

Campaign Season Kick Off

Community media has the ability to bring a very micro focus to local issues that other sources either don’t cover or cover on a minimal level. Municipal elections are significant initiatives that bring together the NewTV staff to work as a team and use as many resources as possible. We pride ourselves on being an unbiased source for transparent, direct, and unedited coverage of the issues impacting Newton. Planning for our election coverage takes months and focuses on several different approaches.

Newton City Hall goes HD!

NewTV’s Government Department operates video equipment out of Newton City Hall to cover the government meetings. This month, City Hall received a high-definition equipment upgrade. The live and recorded broadcast is now in full HD. (You will need RCN to watch the live broadcast in HD). The original equipment had been in use for 10 years and did not meet modern broadcast standards. The new equipment consists of the following:
