Transparent Coverage

NewTV’s Government Media department is constantly tasked with providing new means of disseminating important, relevant and transparent information to Newton residents. In the coming year, we’ll be providing even more coverage of planning and development issues facing the city as well as the Charter review process that is currently underway. Select public hearings, presentations, and committee meetings will broadcast on the government channel and be available on our website. This level of transparency ensures that everyone can be a part of the process by viewing the unedited proceedings.

Elections and Moving Forward

NewTV wrapped up an incredible election cycle last month that furthered our mission to deliver comprehensive coverage of issues impacting Newton. The process takes months of planning as well as coordination. Over sixty candidates appeared on the ballot, and forty-five participated in our candidate message forum. We held five debates for contested races in collaboration with the League of Women Voters and the culmination of our coverage was delivered on election night with a ninety-minute live results special. I was incredibly grateful to my colleagues for coming together and assisting on many of these productions. This type of coverage is usually the only time that we all work on the same crew, each bringing our experience to address a vast list of moving parts, big and small aspects of taped and live broadcast.
