Fall Specialty Classes

Written by Michael Sills, Director of Member Media

This coming fall, NewTV is offering a variety of new courses for members that will help strengthen their projects. The courses are being taught by experts in various fields. First, Melanie Graham, formerly of the Newton Patch now with Dana-Farber, has taught social media at NewTV before. Now, she will not only be offering a class for beginners, but also one for those looking for a more advanced approach to social media. This will be beneficial for anyone who is looking for some help in promoting his or her show or film after completion. The beginner’s course is Thursday, October 16th and the advanced course is Wednesday, October 22nd. Next, we have a brand new workshop called Shooting Reality with Margo Guernsey of Time Travel Productions (http://www.timetravelproductions.com). This course aims to give members a chance to shoot and learn everything necessary to document the world around them to tell a compelling story. This workshop will consist of two classes starting on Wednesday October 29th. Lastly, we have two brand new workshops from photographer Vanessa Ruiz (http://www.vanessaruiz.com). The first will be an Introduction to Digital Photography and Editing. This workshop will take members through the process of professional photography, from taking the picture to editing in Adobe Photoshop. This course will consist of six classes beginning Saturday October 11th. The second course will give members a chance to learn how to better use their cell phone camera with Smartphonography. This workshop will be held Thursday October 23rd. I encourage everyone to sign-up for these special workshops. You won’t get a better opportunity to expand your knowledge in other forms of media. These courses do have a minimum enrollment and space is limited, so sign-up soon to ensure your spot. For all course listings, fees and other information, check out our classes page (http://www.newtv.org/classes).
