Dr. Rochelle Walensky to head CDC
On Monday, President-elect Joe Biden selected Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital, to run the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She will become head of the CDC after Biden’s inauguration next month. Dr. Walensky is a Newton resident and participated in NewTV’s COVID-19 Newton Response program this past March. She, along with Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller and Emergency Management Director Bruce Proia, answered residents’ questions live during the one-hour call-in program at NewTV’s studio. NewTV would like to extend congratulations to Dr. Walensky and wish her success in her new role.
