Newton-Wellesley Hospital, as of Tuesday, Dec. 7, reports they are caring for a total of 28 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, a doubling of COVID-19 patients in one week. The hospital reports it has not had this high a number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in more than 10 months. Additionally, the number of critically ill patients with COVID-19 is rising with between five and seven patients per day over the past week.

The good news, even among this worrisome data, is that no one in Newton died with COVID-19 this week.
