Innovation Showcase - The Discovery of Prehistoric Rock Art Paintings in the Columbian Amazon Rainforest
Jay talks with archaeologist Mark Robinson, PhD. Mark focuses on environmental archaeology and he’s currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Exeter in England. He’s here today to share with us the spectacular discovery he and his colleagues have made in the Columbian Amazon rainforest--the uncovering of thousands of prehistoric rock art paintings dating back more than 12,000 years ago. During the program, we’ll be finding out why and how this groundbreaking expedition came about, who was involved, and the logistics leading to this remarkable revelation. We’ll go on a behind-the-scenes tour, and, in the process, come to better understand and appreciate these magnificent rock art paintings and how this better informs our knowledge of the early human colonization in South America.
