Innovation Showcase - Israel Antiquities Authority's Recent Discoveries

Jay talks with archaeologist Oren Ableman, PhD. Oren is a Dead Sea Scroll researcher with the Israel Antiquities Authority and he’s here today to inform us about the sensational discovery he and his colleagues recently made in the Judean Desert—the discovery of fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls dating back more than 2,000 years ago. In addition to these priceless fragments, the teams also found a 6,000-year-old skeleton of a child, rare coins, and a complete basket believed to be the oldest in the world, dating back 10,500 years. During the program, we’ll be finding out why and how this groundbreaking expedition came about, who was involved, and the fascinating logistics leading to these remarkable revelations. We’ll go on a behind-the-scenes tour, and, in the process, come to better understand and appreciate these priceless items and how they better inform our knowledge of this most important historical period.
