Donation Campaigns

Donate towards NewTV’s mission to support the First Amendment right to free speech by providing the diverse Newton community with a platform for opinions, news and local information. They accomplish this as a state-of-the-art media center that specializes in training, television production, content distribution and building community partnerships. NewTV is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.

Support the Lipof Fellowship, established by Michael Lipof to allow broadcast journalism students to be paid while interning for Newton News so they can focus more on learning and less on financial burdens while in school. Former Alderman Lipof’s son, Phil Lipof interned at NewTV and went on to become a news anchor for WCVB-TV in Boston. Many former interns have gone on to successful jobs in broadcast journalism.

Each year NewTV presents two $1000 scholarships, one to a student from Newton North High School and one to a student from Newton South High School. Both students are planning to study Communications/TV or Film in college. Past recipients have gone to schools such as NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Tulane University and Quinnipiac University.
